One Idea that Sparked a Movement
More than a decade ago, a simple classroom challenge sparked something extraordinary. In grade 3, Abbie Clarke was asked how she would make the world a better place, and her answer was clear: to find a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.
After losing her grandfather, aunt, and cousin to the disease, and seeing others in her family including her young cousin Rayyan, living with PF, Abbie bravely stood up and shared her story. That moment planted the seed for what would become a lasting Calgary tradition, bringing the community together year after year to honour loved ones, raise awareness, and inspire hope for a better future.

What began as a class assignment became something much bigger for Abbie. Following her presentation, she organized “Abbie’s Run” at her school, then, with her family’s support, helped launch the first Clarke Family Walk for Pulmonary Fibrosis, bringing the wider community together to raise awareness and fund research.

For over 10 years, Calgarians impacted by pulmonary fibrosis have united alongside the Clarke family to walk in honour of loved ones, support those living with PF, and shine a light on this often misunderstood disease. Together, every step helps raise awareness, strengthen our community, and move us closer to better treatments, and ultimately, a cure.
Registered participants who raise $50 or more for the 2026 Clarke Walk for PF will automatically be entered to win a WestJet Gift of Flight. Each additional $50 earns another entry.
