This year's HIKE for HOPE has gone VIRTUAL in response to COVID-19.​

Is there a registration fee?
Yes, the registration fee is $15 per person. Every registered participant will receive a branded mask, a downloadable official certificate of achievement and souvenir bib number as well as access to all weekend activities including a pre-HIKE training program. Family registrations are $30.  REGISTER HERE

Where does HIKE for HOPE take place?
This year we are virtual so that means it happens wherever you are! Some activities may include in-person sessions with social distancing.

Where do the funds raised go?
The funds raised from HIKE for HOPE Challenge will support our soup kitchen and food pantry, relieving the stress and uncertainty for families who struggle to put food on the table for their families. To learn more about Lazarus House Ministries please visit www.lazarushouse.org

Is there a minimum amount I need to fundraise in order to walk?
No. There is no minimum fundraising goal in order to participate in HIKE for HOPE. We will gratefully accept any amount and all of the funds raised go to support the Lazarus House's Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen. If you inspire 5 people to donate $20.21, you complete Fundraise Challenge activity and earn points and you are steps away from completing the Challenge.

Are there advantages to fundraising online?
Yes. The HIKE for HOPE website is packed with features to help you achieve your fundraising goals. Some of the features are:
- Your personal (and team) page provides you with powerful tools to make fundraising easier. Our software allows you to input your contacts online, and then track your requests and who needs a thank you note.
- Each donation appears on your page automatically. This helps you track the progress and encourages your supporters to help reach your goal.
- Friends and family can log on and support your efforts quickly and easily.
- Automated acknowledgement messages are sent to all your online supporters.

Is there a deadline to register for HIKE for HOPE?
No. You can register for HIKE for HOPE 24 hours a day by visiting our website.

How can I promote HIKE for HOPE to my company, organization, faith organization, or school?
We suggest doing one or ALL of the following:
- Form a Team Committee and enlist co-workers, friends or family members to help get the word out to more people.
- Send out emails with your personal HIKE for HOPE link.
- Put up posters in cafeterias, lobbies, elevators, etc. (Download available on the Get Social Toolkit page)
- Ask your boss, teacher or pastor to write a personal appeal (note) to all encouraging participation.
- Follow up with your team about fundraising goals and efforts.

How do I make a donation with a check/cash and not a credit card?
Make the check out to Lazarus House Ministries and in the memo section write the person/team you would like your donation to be credited to and mail it to:

If someone registered for HIKE for HOPE as an individual, can they still join a team?
Yes, pre-registered walkers can still be a part of a team. Simply contact AJ Events at 617-267-2244 or maria@ajwevents.com with the walker's name/address/email and the team they wish to be a part of.

Is my information secure?
Yes. OneCause, the company that HIKE for HOPE uses to store your data, makes every effort to protect your information. They use encryption techniques to make sure that credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the internet.

How are credit card numbers handled?
Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send the credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection.

Will I receive a charitable tax receipt for my donation?

All donations made through our online fundraising page with all of the required information (full name and complete address) will automatically receive a charitable tax receipt by email. If you have a question about your tax receipt please contact us at aj@ajwevents.com.

Can I collect cash or checks?

As a virtual challenge participant and fundraiser, you have the option of accepting cash and/or checks from your friends. You can enter them right into our online platform so it is counted towards your goal. Once logged in, please go to Manage My Page - Complete Activities - Fund: Get 5 donations of $20.21 - Enter Cash/Checks. Please be sure to send any funds you received to us at:

You also have the option of making a credit card payment to cover your offline donations through our online peer-to-peer platform in your participant dashboard.

How can I support without joining the Challenge?

We are very grateful for any support, whether you participate in our virtual challenge or not. Thank you! Our supporters play a vital role in supporting our community's most vulnerable youth.

You can still make a donation by hovering over "Donate" at the top of your screen until a drop down menu appears and clicking "Make a General Donation." You can make a donation towards a participant's or team's fundraising goal by clicking "Find a Participant or Team" and then using the search feature to find their name. Once you have, click on the "Donate" button underneath their name and follow the prompts.

How do I invite someone to join?

At the top, right side of your personal page, team page, and the homepage, there is a white box card with a pink button that states "Invite a friend." Follow the prompts and be sure to invite more people to gain more points! 

How do I earn points?

Earn 1 point: For every dollar a participant raises. A participant also gets 1 additional point for every dollar self-donated (NOTE: team donations that are not allocated to a participant will result in team points)

Earn 50 points: For every tweet

Earn 100 points: For every photo posted on social media using the #hikeforhope (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook)

Earn 250 points: For every friend that accepts the participant's invitation to join sent through their account and for each video posted on social media

Earn 1000 points: For every Challenge activity completed

Are there prizes for completing the challenge? What can I win?

On May 23, 2021 at 11:59pm, the window for collecting points will be over and we will award celebration prizes for Leader Board categories including:

-Top individual fundraiser 

-Top individual with the most points

-Top individual recruiter

-Most social individual

-Top fundraising team (up to 12 members)

-Top team with the most points (up to 12 members)

-Most social team

Can I view my activity history and progress?

Yes, you can view your activity history and progress on your dashboard. Hover over your name at the top, right side of your screen until a drop down menu appears. Click on "Manage My Page" and then click on Dashboard from the left hand navigation.
