Treva Hodges

Treva is a proud Charlestown resident by choice. While moving around a lot, as a child, she says she is a “summertime-porch-sittin’, two-finger-waves-from-the-steering-wheel, parking-lot-jumper-cable-shares, produce-section-hugs-at-the-grocery and Saturday-morning-sing-a-longs-in-the-city-square” kind of girl.

Treva is the Mayor of Charlestown, IN, where many of her friends jokingly call her "Doctor Mayor." Treva received her Bachelor’s and Masters in Communication Studies from the University of Alabama and her PHD in Humanities from the University of Louisville.

Treva is married to Ed Byers. They share their home with their children, grandchildren as well as an assortment of furry and feathered friends. When it comes to music, Treva began singing acapala in church, which led to joining the chorus and band in school. All that has led to many impromptu karaoke nights at home. When time allows, she loves reading and collecting books. Treva also enjoys hunting and cruising back roads with her husband.

When asked why she agreed to perform at Voice and Vino, Treva pointed to the pandemic and an outreach program in Charlestown to help the elderly and high-risk residents. It was during that time she got to know about Lifespan Resources, their services and how many in the community depend on them. Treva loves Lifespan Resource's mission and feels lucky to help raise money so their services can continue.
