Thank you for taking the first step to begin fundraising for the Refuse To Abuse® 5K. We so appreciate your leadership and understanding that together we can end domestic violence! As you continue fundraising for domestic violence prevention, we wanted to share our fundraising toolkit and some information to help you answer common questions your supporters may have.

What is the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV)?

WSCADV is the leading voice for ending domestic violence in Washington. We have a network of 70+ domestic violence programs across the state. We improve how communities respond to domestic violence and are working to create a world where all people can live and love freely without fear. We do this by providing training and technical assistance to our member programs, publishing educational tools, engaging the public in our prevention efforts, and advocating for laws that support survivors.

What is Refuse To Abuse® and what will my donation be used for?

Refuse To Abuse® is WSCADV's largest and most effective prevention program. This community outreach campaign started in 1996 in partnership with the Seattle Mariners with the goal of promoting healthy, respectful relationships. It originated from the Mariners' "Refuse to Lose" season in 1995. Today, the Refuse To Abuse® outreach program is proud to have the support of the Mariners staff and players! With the help and support of the Seattle Mariners, the Refuse To Abuse® prevention messaging reaches over 500,000 people each year and spreads the message that domestic violence is 100% preventable.

Each year, the Refuse To Abuse® 5K recruits participants and supporters to raise funds to continue WSCADV's prevention work. The money raised goes directly to our efforts throughout the entire state of Washington. Each donation helps us get closer to ending domestic violence through prevention!
