Refuse To Abuse® 5K 2023

Volunteer

The Refuse To Abuse® 5K couldn't happen without our incredible team of volunteers! Volunteering is a great way to participate in this event. Get an insider's view of T-Mobile Park and be part of a movement that promotes healthy relationships. Volunteers will help:

  • Get participants checked-in
  • Help run gear/clothes check
  • Cheer and direct runners along the course
  • Pass our snacks and water at the finisher's area
  • Hand out medals
  • And more!

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering! Volunteer sign-ups for 2023 are now closed.

Volunteer FAQs

Can I bring my child(ren) with me to volunteer? Only registered runners/walkers/volunteers will be permitted on the course. Children who can be unattended/independent are welcome. We recommend ages 13 and up for volunteers, but use your best judgement.

Can I get service hours credit? Yes! Just bring your form and a WSCADV staff member will sign it.

When should I arrive? Volunteers are expected to arrive at 7:00 am.

Where should I park? Volunteering includes free parking at the Mariners Garage, located just south of the ballpark on Edgar Martinez Drive. Show your volunteer confirmation to the parking attendant for free parking during the event.

Can I be stationed with a friend?/I want to volunteer with a group. We will make every effort to keep groups together. Larger groups (more than 6) may need to be assigned to different duties/groups. Children who are volunteering will be able to volunteer with their parent(s)/adult who is responsible for them. Duties are assigned once volunteers arrive on race day.

How do I get there? T-Mobile Park, 1250 First Ave. South, Seattle, WA 98134. Up to date directions from mariners.mlb.com. Look for the volunteer tent in front of Left Field Gate!

When will the event end? When can I leave? We anticipate that the event will end by 11:00 am - making your total volunteer time 4 hours maximum. Many volunteer jobs end before the event is over. Please let us know if you have time constraints.

What should I wear? You may be asked to stand and/or walk throughout the course to your post so we advise comfortable shoes and clothes that you feel good in.

I want to make/bring a sign, can I? Absolutely - and we will have materials available for sign making!

Will there be food and water available? There will be water and some snacks at the start and finish.

Will I have to stand for a long period of time? Most likely, yes. Please let us know if this is an issue for you.
