About Trivia Putt Putt

A BIG virtual change!

As Big Brothers Big Sisters celebrates their “Sweet Sixteen” of hosting an annual fundraiser in January (which is National Mentoring Month) we are excited to present a new model that offers safer encounters, yet engaging and impactful results for the mission of empowering the potential in local kids. Due to ongoing COVID concerns and cautions of socializing in large groups, Putt-A-Round is making a transformation.

Instead of playing miniature golf with hundreds of our closest friends and community partners, we are going online to play VIRTUAL TRIVIA. With a professional emcee running the show, it’s sure to be a fun, interactive and informative experience with a little friendly competition at every session for individuals and teams.

We are confident that this event will offer a great team building activity—a way to engage employees or connect with friends and family from across town or across the county.
This event still provides a great way for you to continue showing your commitment to helping local children who need a positive role model in their life.

Please join us in our new endeavor for 2021!

How it WORKS!

Virtual Trivia will be held online, using the Zoom platform along with a program called Crowdpurr. All participants/teams will login to Zoom then be directed from there on how to play the game (from their phones, tablets or computers). There is step by step information in the "About Trivia Putt Putt" tab, where you can get help with Zoom questions.

Participants will form teams, register ($30/person) for a session then decide whether to play from their own individual spaces or gather in a small group at their office, local establishment or home. (COVID FRIENDLY OF COURSE).

THINGS TO KNOW:

  • Everything happens in real time!!
  • Use 2 devices- the game works best if you watch the Zoom call with our host on a computer screen. Then use a smart phone to buzz in with your answers. You'll get instructions as soon as you join the Zoom call on your specific night of Trivia.
  • Buzz in or Answer with any device connected to the internet - a tablet, computer, or a smart phone. we recommend using a second device so you can buzz in answers quickly.
  • Be right & be fast - the faster you buzz in the answer the more points you'll get for a correct answer!
  • 8 rounds of trivia play - with 8 questions per each round.
  • Your TEAM NAME is VERY Important, so remember it! Once you login into the Trivia game you will click on the drop down box for your team name and click it.

There will be a prize for the team with the most creative Team Name!

How BBBS is keeping kids CONNECTED!

    OUR KIDS NEED US!

More than ever the youth we serve need us. We are committed to keeping our kids connected and trying to make things as normal as they can be during a challenging time like this.

For more than 33 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As a donor supported volunteer organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois. We develop positive friendships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

87 percent of the children served by BBBS come from low income families.  With the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these families are the most vulnerable in our community. These children (Littles) need to remain connected to their adult mentors (Bigs) who keep their spirits up and help to build their self- esteem. The BBBS staff also keeps in touch with both the Littles and their families checking to see if the family needs resources the staff can help connect them to.

Your Trivia Putt-Putt registration will go directly to support programming at BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS here in our community.
