COVID-19 Guidelines & Policies

The health and safety of our Drop Zone participants has and always will be a top priority at Easter Seals.
Planning is proceeding for Drop Zone events in September 2021 and these guidelines will be adjusted
on an ongoing basis based in accordance with the guidance published by the local health authorities,
the government of BC and Worksafe BC.

PREPARING FOR THE EVENT

Pre-Event Training

Climb Base 5 will provide all pre-event training at their facilities and their protocols will be emailed to
you prior to your pre-event session. Protocols will look like:

  • The equipment (harnesses) will be put on by participants and Climb Base 5/Genesis Climbing will support the participants verbally. If needed a staff person with proper PPE can assist when required.
  • Training will follow physical distancing protocols at a minimum 2 meters away.​
  • Harnesses will be quarantined for up to a week between uses.
  • Absolutely! All necessary permits, approvals and licenses are in place..


WHAT TO EXPECT ON EVENT DAY

Vaccine Check

By order of the Provincial Health Officer, proof of at least one does of a COVID-19 vaccine will be required for the Surrey, Vancouver and Kelowna events. 

Face Masks & Gloves

All on-site Easter Seals employees, volunteers and the technical team from Tacten will be required to
wear masks and gloves. Rappellers will be asked to wear a mask and wash or sanitize their hands upon
entering the “Drop Zone” designated area. Rappellers will then be supplied gloves when going down the
building. There will be no glove sharing.

Physical Distancing

We will be following strict physical distancing at the event and ask that you adhere to the designated
signs and markers throughout the event space and allow our staff to guide you through.

Entering/Exiting The Buildings (on foot)

• Everyone will be asked to wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the building.
• One lane will be designated to entering.
• One lane will be designated to exiting.
• No individuals (except a designated “Rappeller Escort”) will be allowed to press any buttons on the
elevator.

Sanitation Protocols

Thorough sanitization and cleaning of all high touch surfaces will be done before and during the event.
We will have plenty of hand sanitizer available for participants to use.

Equipment & Technical Team

Both our on-site technical team and provider of the equipment will have strict protocols in place for
COVID-19. These protocols will be emailed to you prior to your event date.
