Dexter the Therapy Cat

Help crown me the 2024 Pet Partners Pet of the Year!

Please join us in supporting Pet Partners and our efforts to raise funds during the 2024 Pet Partners Pet of the Year competition. You can help Dexter to be crowned the Pet of the Year by joining my fundraising committee, donating to my campaign, or both!

From the beginning, it was obvious that Dexter was different from other cats. He was cool, he was collected, he was the definition of chill. He loved everyone without question. We knew he would be a great ambassador to pet therapy, and so I took him to class at Pet Partners to be a therapy cat. In November 2008, we passed our first test with flying colors and became a Pet Partners therapy team. Retesting occurred every two years, and Dexter passed with the highest marks possible every time without fail.

Over the course of 15 years of therapy work, Dexter touched the lives of thousands of people. He visited patients in nursing homes and hospice care. He attended many pet fairs & events. He made college campus visits to help students destress, and was involved in reading programs for kids at several libraries.  He was in newspapers & magazines, was on the radio, and was in a children’s book about therapy animals.  He was even a “nude” model for an art class at a local college.  And over 5,000 followers on Facebook helped show us how much people loved & appreciated the work Dexter did by giving himself freely to all.

I have set my fundraising goal at $1,500...  That's $100 for each year that Dexter was a therapy cat.

By supporting my fundraising efforts as a pet candidate, you will be directly supporting Pet Partners therapy animal teams who interact with a wide variety of clients including veterans with PTSD, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, students with literacy challenges, patients in recovery, people with intellectual disabilities, and those approaching end of life. They believe that the human-animal bond is a mutually beneficial relationship that improves the physical, social, and emotional lives of those we serve.

Thank you so much for your support and this wonderful cause!
