Meet the Judges


Nicholas Lodge

Chef Nicholas Lodge teaches and demonstrates his unique skills around the world. He is internationally known, not only for his unique skills in sugar art, but also for the quality of his demonstrations and classes. He is a highly respected and sought-after judge at sugar arts competitions throughout the world. Chef Nicholas teaches at his home classroom in Atlanta, Georgia, has eleven on-line Craftsy classes, and is a chef instructor at the prestigious French Pastry School in Chicago. He is the author of over a dozen cake decorating books and 16 instructional DVD's. In January 2015 Chef Nicholas was appointed Brand Ambassador for Renshaw, of the United Kingdom.” In 2017 Nicholas was awarded "Educator of the Year" at the New York Cake Show.


Rosie Mazumder

 

Rosie Mazumder is the Editor and Founder of Cake Masters Magazine. 

Cake Masters Magazine is the world's biggest magazine dedicated to cakes and cake decorating with over 1 million social media followers. 

Rosie started her journey in cake by teaching back in 2011 and built an amazing following on Facebook. The magazine has grown and now holds the largest annual event called the Cake Masters Magazine Awards, also known as ​The Cake Oscars!


Rose Dummer

Rosie Dummer AKA Rosie Cake-Diva is a former Army helicopter pilot who has become one of the world’s best known cake artists. She is now a presenter and compere and a star of Channel 4’s award winning series ‘Extreme Cake Makers’.

She has presented the Cake Masters Magazine Awards since the outset as well as the Australasian and Indian Cake Awards.

With over a million fans on Social Network Facebook and over 160K subscribers to her YouTube Channel, Rosie demonstrates cake-decorating skills to all levels of enthusiast whilst creating increasingly high profile, show-stopping cake designs.

Rosie’s creations have appeared on BBC’s Graham Norton Show and even at Buckingham Palace and she most recently created a life sized version of Freddie Mercury.


Liz Marek

 

Liz Marek is an award-winning cake artist, author, and instructor from Portland, Oregon. She is well-known for her sculpted and gravity-defying cakes. Liz has an online cake decorating school, Sugar Geek Show and popular YouTube channel where she teaches her students how to create incredible, edible works of art, recipes and trending cake designs. 


Susan Trianos

 

​Susan has been decorating cakes professionally for 32 years. She has owned a renowned cake shop in Toronto, worked in the test kitchen for one of the worlds largest baked goods corporations, and taught at a confectionary arts college. Her work has been featured on TV, in magazines and movies, and she was named Grand Champion at the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show in 2018. Susan now teaches hands on classes and runs an online school, Learn to Cake. 


Reva Alexander-Hawk

 

Reva Alexander-Hawk is a regular on our TV screens and is a winner of Food Network's Wedding Cake Championships, Halloween Wars, Cake Wars and as well as a regular contributor to Hallmark Channel's Home and Family. 

Reva is a life long baker, as the "go to" source for sweets within her family. She is a graduate of the distinguished California Culinary Academy of San Francisco, she has studied baking and pastry with industry leaders and continues to value the importance of education both as a student and an instructor. 

In 2002, Reva officially launched her own cake and pastry business, Merci Beaucoup Cakes. Calling on her connections in the Los Angeles area, she developed a glowing reputation as a high end cake decorator. Her hard work and amazing creations landed her on three seasons of the show "Amazing Wedding Cakes," which has aired globally in over a dozen countries. It remains an experience that has opened up many wonderful opportunities to share her skills with the cake community from North America to Europe and become a trusted name in the sugar art world.

Monika Stout


Monika Stout is the owner of Truly Scrumptious Cakes in Encinitas, California. Over the last ten years Monika has been lucky enough to build a successful custom cake shop where she creates one-of-a-kind works of sugar art. 

Monika has been featured in Cake Master Magazine  and competed in cake shows around the world. She won a gold medal at Cake International and Best in Show for four consecutive years at the San Diego Cake Show. Monika won Cake Wars (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode) and has been featured on an episode of Ridiculous Cakes on Food Network. 

Monika works as a cake artist and food stylist for the popular Netflix show Nailed It, creating the hero pieces the contestants try to recreate. As well as working behind the scenes on Sugar Rush and styling magazine covers.

Monika has been the co-chair of the San Diego Cake Show for the last five years. 


Louise Pass

 

Louise Pass from Fancy a Treat has been making and decorating cakes for 12 years. 

Louise has won multiple 1st place awards for her designs at the San Diego Cake Show and other local shows. She has taken courses with some of the industries best instructors to perfect her craft.

Louise also appeared on Food Network's Cake Wars as part of the winning duo for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle episode, as well as appearing on an episode of Food Network's Ridiculous Cakes

Louise is currently the USA Representative for Cake Masters Magazine and has been one of the 3 co-chairs of the San Diego Cake Show for the past 5 years. 


Jose Barajas 

 

Jose Barajas is the President of the San Diego Cake Club. He has competed in numerous competitions on Food Network, winning the second season of Holiday Gingerbread Showdown and Food Network Challenge. Currently, he is focusing on opening his bakery in Chula Vista this summer. ​
