What's a JoyRide? It's a perfect way to get in some training, have some laughs, and find great ways to boost your fundraising! Think of each JoyRide as a mini version of Ride day. You'll meet cool people, build confidence riding in a group, and feel supported the whole way. They're also a great way to convince a friend to join you for the Ride! First time riders are always welcome. It's a fun, relaxed environment that anyone is welcome to join - no registration necessary.
Riders of all levels are welcome! ALL of the HCRA JoyRides are considered a “No Drop.” This means that no rider is left behind, and you can count on an experienced rider ready nearby to help and support you, as needed. Some rides have SAG which means a "support & gear" vehicle stays with the riders on the route in case help is needed. Additionally, we provide digital route maps for each ride via our RidewithGPS account.
Maps of each JoyRide can be found by clicking the JoyRide links on the Facebook events and here on our website below. At these links, you can view the routes, print cue sheets, and download files in various formats for your favorite cycling software. Please note that we may change JoyRides at the last minute to accommodate changes in traffic, weather, and other safety-related issues. We do our very best to communicate any changes in advance, and usually do so on Facebook.
Helmets are required on all JoyRides. We also ask that you “share the road” with other cyclists, vehicles, and pedestrians. We give a safety briefing at each JoyRide to get everyone up-to-speed on hand signals, the route, and upcoming events.
Below are the details for our 2020 Fall JoyRides! (Links are currently outdated, but will be updated very soon!)
