After attending last year’s Dancing for Gold® event and seeing the incredible things Book for Hope does for so many local families during their child’s cancer battle, it was easy to say yes to doing the event this year.
I have been happily married to Billy for 28 years, and we live in Paducah. After dedicating myself to being a stay-at-home mom to our son Garrett, I pursued a career in healthcare by returning to college at the age of 30. I graduated from both the radiology technology and ultrasound technology programs at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
Although I’m not currently working in the medical field and miss my patients greatly, I have found that in my new career as a Senior Radiological Control Technician at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant rewarding. Every day, I get to work with some amazing leaders and peers who inspire me to be better inside and outside the work environment. I am also a proud member of the United Steel Workers Union and actively participate in the Women of Steel initiative, advocating for women in the industry and fundraising for local children’s charities.
As a person who likes to be busy, I channel my creativity into event planning and coordination. With my thorough organizational skills and creative eye for detail, I bring joy to friends and family. I also fulfill my artistic side by baking intricate royal icing cookies, adding a personal touch to each one.
To say the least, I am always doing something to keep busy. After attending last year’s Dancing for Gold event and seeing the incredible things Book for Hope does for so many local families during their child’s cancer battle, it was easy to say yes to doing the event this year.
