Dancing for Gold® 2026 supporting Book for Hope®

I can start an IV in a heartbeat—and now I’m dancing for theirs.
Hey everyone! I’m Maximillian Curry and I'm from Paducah, Kentucky. I was born in Homestead, Florida, but Paducah has been home for the past 20 years. I graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 2012 and went on to earn my RN degree from WKCTC. I’m married to the love of my life, Jessica, and together we have two amazing children: Baylor (6) and our rainbow baby, Becklyn (2).
I’ve been a registered nurse for eight years, serving four years in the ER and the past four as a Vascular Access Specialist at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital. In that time, I’ve cared for countless children—from those with simple colds to those facing life-threatening illnesses. Each one has left a mark on me, but none more than the kids battling cancer. Their courage and the strength of their families continue to inspire me. That’s why I’ve made it a mission to improve pediatric care, helping bring in distraction tools, pain-easing equipment, and even furry companions through a national program to make hospital stays less intimidating for children.
This mission is personal for me, too. In 2019, I lost my dad to prostate cancer, and that loss deepened my empathy for families walking through the hardest chapters of life. More recently, my daughter Becklyn was diagnosed with autism and has had several hospitalizations due to RSV and possible seizures. While her journey is different from cancer, those late-night ambulance rides and overnight hospital stays gave me a small glimpse of the challenges so many families endure.
Dancing for Gold® is my way of giving back—to shine a light on these brave kids and to raise money for childhood cancer. I can start an IV in a heartbeat, but keeping the beat on the dance floor might be another story. Still, if a few clumsy steps can bring comfort, joy, and hope to these families, then every move will absolutely be worth it.
